A Yseult

I created the Tristan and Yseult show with a (at that time) tiny company in Cornwall called Kneehigh. I played the lead role and choreographed the show. It was a huge success. When someone came to see it from The National, I genuinely laughed at the thought of me acting at The National in England; I never had the smallest chance of doing the equivalent performance in my own country.

Then it happened. Standing ovations every night in London’s National Theatre. Looking at the audience, drying their tears after my last big dramatic scene. 5-star reviews in the Guardian and most of the papers. A new period of my life. At age 42.
